On December 22 Kazakhstan President met with Zhanaozen residents and visited the facilities damaged during the clashes, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s official website. “The President visited Zhanaozen and checked the course of restoration works. The President visited the damaged facilities and met with the residents of the town,” Nursultan Nazarbayev’s press-service writes. Earlier the President held the meeting in Aktau. “In Aktau met with the oblast administration, community leaders and representatives of the employees of oil companies to discuss the recent Zhanaozen events. The President noted in his speech that all the measures will be taken to restore Zhanaozen, ensure normal functioning of the town’s facilities, as well as employment of fired workers,” the press-service states. Nursultan Nazarbayev introduced the new oblast's Akim (Governor) Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov and thanked Krymbek Kusherbayev, the ex-governor for his effective work. “Nursultan Nazarbayev informed representatives of the oblast community on the appointment of a new President of KazMunaiGas National Company andnew Director General of EP KazMunaiGas: Lyazzat Kiinov and Alik Aidarbayev,” the website writes.
