Classes at Zhanaozen schools and kindergartens will be resumed January 5, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the official statement at pm.kz. “In accordance with the regional department of the Education Ministry, early winter vacation was announced from December 19 to January 4 [due to the emergency situation and curfew introduced following the public unrest December 16]. Regular classes will be resumed January 5. Tomorrow kids will be coming to schools”, Zhanabai Aimaganbetov, Acting Head of the City Education Authority, said. According to the Press Service of the Mangistau Regional Governor’s Office, the early winter vacation had no negative effect on the educational process. Zhanaozen accommodates 15 state-run and 13 private pre-schools as well as 4 mini child care centers. They cater to 3990 children, which is 71.8% of all children living in the city. Besides, there are 22 schools in operation with a total of 22 000 children.
