Astana police discovered over 200 adepts of religious extremism, Tengrinews.kz reports. 243 people related to extremism were arrested in Astana. 172 of them were registered into the Image+ database as persons that may commit crimes. 66 people were registered as extremists. “All 243 are young people at the age of 22-27. They all come from western and southern areas of Kazakhstan. They had extremist literature in their possession. We are currently holding preventive discussions with them. Of course, we will keep performing such operations,” deputy head of investigations department of Astana Department of Internal Affairs Talgat Zhumanov said.
