On December 20 over 80 percent of Ozenmunaigas in Zhanaozen came to work, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Umirzak Shukeyev as saying during the government meeting. On December 19 only 37 percent returned to work. According to Shukeyev, KazMunaiGas management was instructed to ensure full and stable work of the companies. Vice Prime-Minister also said that the government commission met with Zhanaozen residents, as well as representatives of striking workers of Ozenmunaigas and Karazhanbasmunai in Aktau. “The majority of those who we have met condemn the illegal actions of the people guilty of the riots and deaths of the residents. They approve taking tough measures to punishi the criminals,” Vice Prime-Minister said. Shukeyev said that the government commission also developed a plan for employment of people fired from Ozenmunaigas and Karazhanbasmunai. They will be offered jobs in major companies, mainly in mining and oil and gas sectors with the salaries of 80-90 percent of their previous salaries,” he said during conference call from Aktau.
