Tengrinews.kz - Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo took another dip in the River Seine to demonstrate its safety ahead of the upcoming Paralympic Games.

The summer Paralympic Games will begin in the French capital on August 28, and the mayor once again showcased the safety of the city’s main river.

"Starting next year, swimming in the Seine will become a mandatory part of Parisian summer! I took another swim this morning. In a few days, Paralympic athletes will swim in the Seine during the paratriathlon!" Anne Hidalgo announced on social media.

Hidalgo had also tried to prove the river's safety before the Olympics. Despite this, following a swim in the Seine, a Belgian athlete was hospitalized with E. coli infection.

Kazakh triathlete Yekaterina Shabalina also experienced severe nausea and had to withdraw from the competition after choking in the Seine during the swimming stage.

Earlier, it was announced that renowned actor and martial arts master Jackie Chan will carry the torch just hours before the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
