President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has presented a 11-y.o. hockey-player with a hockey stick, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the press-service of East Kazakhstan Oblast.
“The President has visited the in-door hockey center with an artificial ice coating that was built under a memorandum on social partnership with Kazakhmys (Kazakhstan copper giant). The President presented Ruslan Sagymbayev, a young player of Ust-Kamenogorsk Hockey School, with a hockey stick and autographed a puck as a token of his visit to the school,” the press-service reports.
Talgat Zhaylauov, Kazakhstan national hockey team captain, thanked the President for everything that was being done to promote ice hockey in Kazakhstan.
About one thousand people are playing hockey in East Kazakhstan oblast at present. There are three women teams in the region now. 320 girls and boys are training at the hockey center in Ust-Kamenogorsk. “The oblast's authorities provide all the conditions for development of ice-hockey. The oblast’s Sports Palace has been completely renovated and two new hockey centers have been constructed in Ust-Kamenogorsk city recently. It is planned to construct hockey centers in the cities of Semey, Zyryanovsk, Ridder, Shemonaikha. These hockey sports complexes will be built in the framework of social responsibility. This means that they will be constructed by the large companies operating in the region,” the press-release reads.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived to East-Kazakhstan oblast on June 22 to monitor industrial and innovative development of the region. Besides the hockey center he visited Ust-Kamenogorsk Reinforcing Bar Factory and KEMONT company that produces electrical engineering equipment. He also spoke to one of the most successful farming households of the region in a video conference.
