Kazakhstan is steadily holding its fourth place in the overall standings at the 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea. It is too far behind Japan that is in the third place to catch up with it, but it is also far enough from North Korea in the fifth place to feel relatively safe, Tengrinews reports.

Success at trap events propelled Kazakhstan to the fourth place on September 21 thanks to the Kazakhstani trap women’s team win of gold (Anastassiya Davydova, Mariya Dmityenko and Oxana Sereda jointly scored 203 hits) amd Andrey Mogilevsky's win of bronze in the men’s trap with 14 hits.

Kazakhstan went up to the fourth place with total of 18 medals - 4 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze - in the overall medal count.

Since then in has done a good job adding many more. It now has 9 gold, 11 silver and 20 bronze medals.

China is in the first place with 105, gold, 63 silver and 48 bronze medals. It is far ahead of its nearest rival Sourth Korean and is already a clear winner of the Games. South Korean now has the second place and 42 gold, 48 silver and 47 bronze medals. It is closely followed by Japan with 34 gold, 46 silver and 46 bronze medals. This is close enough to give Japan a chance, but since the 2014 Asia Games finish on October 4 it is still very unlikely that the two will switch places.

North Korean that is behind Kazakhstan in the fifth place has 8 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals. The two countries are close by the number of gold medals, but the gap in all the other metals is fairly large.
