Kazakhstan karateka Arman Moldanyazov has became the first Kazakhstan champion of the European J.K.S. Karate Championships, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vesti.kz. The championship was held in Turin, Italy, on September 23. It was for the first time that the Kazakhstan team coached by Sergey Korneyev (3rd dan) took part in such a significant tournament. Moldanyazov showed the best result at the championship by winning Karate Kata in 19+ category among brown belt holders. (Kata are patterns of movements that are executed as a specified series of a variety of moves, with stepping and turning, while attempting to maintain perfect form). Experienced fighters of Greece and Hungary stood against Moldanyazov, but he impressed the judges with his perfect technique. The Kazakhstan fighter won one more medal, a bronze one, in Kumite competition (in 18+ category, among brown belt holders). Kumite means sparring, and it is one of the three main sections of karate training, along with kata and kihon). Now Kazakhstan national team and its coach Sergey Korneyev will have to train even more intensively to prepare Kazakhstan karatekas for the Karate World Championship that will be held in Japan next year.
