Kazakhstani chess players Zhansaya Abdumalik, Dinara Saduakasova, Madina Davletbayeva and Gulmira Dauletova won 3:1 over their opponents. So far, Kazakh chess players won seven rounds, finished one round with a draw and lost two rounds.
As a result, the Kazakhstani women team moved up to the 9th place in the standings. The Russian team still maintains the 1st place after losing only to the chess team from Ukraine. You can see standings of the women’s teams here.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's men chess team made up of Grandmaster Pavel Kotsur, GM Petr Kostenko, GM Rustam Khusnutdinov and International Master Aslan Aitbayev lost to the Spanish team with a score of 1:3 losing 14 lines in the ranking and dropping to the 46th line. This was the 3rd loss for the Kazakh team. China ranks 1st in the standings. You can see the standings for the men’s teams here.
In the 11th round, Kazakhstan’s men’s team will face Venezuela, and Kazakh women chess players will play against the Czech Republic.
The World Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament, the most important one after the World Chess Championship. The tournament lasts for two weeks and involves more than 2000 players from 170 countries. The event is organised by the World Chess Federation that selects the host nation.
