International expedition to K2 reached 6,400 meters, Kazakhstan alpinist Maksut Zhumayev told Tengrinews.kz. Despite of deep snow, the sportsmen managed to ascend 300 meters along the slope of Chogori mount and set the second camp. Participants of the expedition, Gerlind Kaltenbrunner from Austrian and Ralf Dujmovits will spend a night at this height for acclimatization. Maksut Zhumayev, another Kazakhstan alpinist Vassiliy Pivtsov, as well as Polish Darek Zaluski and Tommy Heinrich from Argentina went down to 6,100 meters to the intermediate camp. According to forecasts, good weather in Karakorum mountain system will maintain for another one or two days. During these days alpinists are planning to find the route to the third camp that will be located at the height of 7,300-7,400 meters. Chogori is located in Karakorum mountain system in Kashmir province at the territory of Pakistan. Its height is 8,611 meters.
