“We hear about Kazakhstan more and more. Kazakhstan is rapidly developing and the international community notices it. That is why we are happy to open the Speedway World Championship Stage in Almaty. I liked Medeo skating rink a lot,” Armando Castagna of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) said.
“We are honoured to host the Speedway World Championship Stage at the legendary ice skating rink Medeo along with the FIM. This memorable event would definitely contribute to the positive news about Kazakhstan in the wake of the Universiade and the EXPO-2017. Our racers Vladimir Cheblakov (first team), Pavel Nekrasov and Denis Slepukhin (in reserve) will compete at the World Championship Stage,” the President of Kazakhstan Automotosport Federation Marat Abykayev said.
Motorcycle ice racing is considered one of the most dangerous disciplines. On February 14, racers will compete in the evening lights. On February 15, the final of the World Championship Stage will take place during daytime. 22 races will be held per day. Four racers will complete in each race. The organizers of the event plan to stream the competition live.
