23-y.o. Ryan McDonagh, leading defenseman of New York Rangers, will join Kazakhstan's Barys ice hockey team, Vesti.kz reports.
Ryan McDonagh was drafted in the first round, 12th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens on June 22, 2007, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the Rangers team, where he was the second and third defenseman. McDonagh is one of the best National Hockey League (NHL) hockey players of non-equal squad games. He has proved himself as the League’s most promising defenseman. McDonagh played 147 matches in the last two seasons. He scored 8 goals and assisted on a goal 37 times.
McDonagh will become the third NHL player ol arrive to Astana since the beginning of the NHL lockout.
Earlier Kazakhstan-born Nikolay Antropov, professional ice hockey forward for the Winnipeg Jets, and Viktor Hedman, Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League, joined Barys hockey team.
