Abel Sanchez, the coach of the World Middleweight Champion Gennedy Golovkin, has shared his opinion on the Golovkin vs Stevens fight that took place on November 2 in New York, Vesti.kz reports. Golovkin had promised a slugfest, but instead he just dominated the Maddison Square Garden ring all together, as some of the commentators said. “Stevens was tougher than we thought he was going to be. (…) There are still things we need to work on as far as Gennady’s patience and setting up his punches, but the good part is we got the win and have stuff to work on,” Sanchez told The Washington Post. Before the fight Sanches also shared with The Boxing Channel that Stevens does not have the skill to beat Golovkin. During the news conference prior to the fight Stevens said, “Come Saturday night, I'm gonna f--- Gennady Golovkin up!”. According to the coach, Golovkin wanted to punish Stevens in the ring for “talking to much”. As for Stevens, he said he had nothing to be ashamed of because he did better in a fight he lost than some boxers in the fights they won. After defending his WBA title in this fight Golovkin declared that he was ready to fight anyone who would come out against him.
