International expedition to K2 will start their final trip to Chogori not earlier than on August 16. The alpinists will spend the next few days in Chinese base camp at 3,800 meters because of a strong wind, Kazakhstan alpinist Maksut Zhumayev told Tengrinews.kz. “There will be storms for several days. It will be snowing and windy. Actually it's not good at all. On the other hand, we have time to have a good rest in the area where there is grass and where we can breathe better,” Zhumayev said. Participants of the expedition received bad weather forecasts for the coming few days. According to the forecasts the bad weather will last for another five days. After that the alpinists are expecting a better weather during the fifth, final trip: “We often joke with Vassiliy that Kazakhstan alpinists only need five minutes of good weather to take the picture on the top of the mountain. If serious, we need about five days and it is very important that there is no storm on the last day.” Kazakhstan sportsman also said that all participants of the expedition, who are Maksut Zhumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov from Kazakhstan, Gerlinda Kaltenbrunner from Austria, Ralf Dujmovits from Germany, Darek Zaluski from Poland and Tommy Heinrich from Argentina, feel good and no one is planning to go back. There were some concerns about Zaluski, who did't feel well during two last trips to Chogori. "What do you want from him? He is 52 years old. He feels good, drinking tea right now. But seriously, this man is as tough as a rock. Such people don't give up, especially since we are very close to the end. He has had small injuries, but they are gone. Darek is the best heights operator in the world. Iron can be made of such people,” Kazakhstan sportsman added. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that the team of alpinists set the forth camp at 8,000 meters during their last trip to K2. Chogori is located in the Karakorum mountain system in Kashmir province at the territory of Pakistan. Its height is 8,611 meters.
