15-year-old figure skater from Kazakhstan Elizabeth Tursynbayeva has taken the second place at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic held in Salt Lake city, the United States on September 16-20, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Kazakhstan’s young athlete, who made her senior international debut at this tournament, has been training in Canada with a well-known Canadian coach Brian Orser for three years now. He was the one who helped turn a Korean girl named Kim Yuna into an Olympic champion.
Elizabeth was on the fourth place after skating her short program and after the free skating program, the Kazakh figure skater claimed the second place.
As a result, Elizabeth clinched a silver medal with her 177.91 points. “I think this is a good result. Not everything was perfect, but I am still very happy. I completed the first official tournament in this season well. I need to work harder on my step sequence, skating, choreography and artistry. I am still learning at these competitions. I have seen a lot of great figure skaters and they all have demonstrated an excellent choreography. I still need to practice these elements,” Elizabeth shared.
Japan’s rising star Satoko Miyahara won the tournament's gold medal. She received 183.64 points.
In October, Elizabeth will also debut at Skate America ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating scheduled for October 23-29 in Milwaukee, the United States.
