The SNCF stated that the attack occurred during the night of July 25th to 26th.

"Arson attacks caused significant damage to our facilities, severely disrupting the Atlantic, Northern, and Eastern branches of high-speed trains. Fortunately, the South-Eastern branch remains unaffected," the SNCF announced.

"We are rerouting some trains to alternative branches, but unfortunately, many will have to be cancelled," the company added.

French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera commented that the full extent of the impact on Olympic spectators and athletes is still being assessed.
