The Astana Arlans captain Samat Bashenov has been named The Best Asian WSB Boxer of 2013, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.
The reliable captain of the Wolves brought his team to the Championship in the thirds season of WSB. He won 5 bouts in the thirds season, losing only once to Ukraine’s two-time Olympic medal-winner Vasiliy Lomachenko.
This season the lightweight boxer has had two fights so far. Fighting against the Russian Boxing Team in St.Petersburg the southpaw Kazakh beat Adlan Abdurashidov (8WP/2TKO/1TD). In his last fight Bashenov lost to Albert Selimov (6WP) of the Baku Fires.
Previously, super heavyweight Ruslan Myrsatayev of the Astana Arlans was named The Best Asian WSB Boxer.
The Arlan has a chance to improve his rating in the upcoming matches against the Mexico Guerreros, the Cuba Domadores and the Poland Hussars.
On February 1, the Astana Arlans are facing the Russian Boxing Team in the ring at Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty. The Coach of the Arlans Sergei Korchinsky is bringing Azamat Iskakulov (-49 kg), Meribolat Toitov (-56 kg), Askhat Ualikhanov (-64 kg), Segrey Derevyanchenko (-75 kg) and Vasiliy Levit (-91 kg).
The Baluan Sholak Sports Palace is situated at #44Abai Av. (at the crossing with Baitursynov Str.) The beginning is at 7:30 p.m. The tickets range from 1000 ($7) to 5000 tenge ($33) and can be bought at Meloman Stores and online at ticketon.kz.
