Participants of the international expedition reached the third camp located at the height of 7100 meters, Kazakh alpinist Maksyt Zhumayev said. On August 4 the team climbed another 500 meters of the mount Chogori. "From the height of 6600 meters we reached to height of 7100 meters and set the tents of the third high-altitude camp here for the first time,” the Kazakh alpinist said. Before that the alpinists only brought ropes and other experiment to the third cam and this time they bought the tents and set them for the night. This was the first time they spend a night in the third camp ever since the beginning of the expedition. “The weather was good today so we were in no hurry. The ascent took only six hours and we set off from the second camp only at 10 in the morning. This is because we had a very tough day the day before. On that day we worked for 11 hours climbing from the first camp to the second and were really tired,” Maksut Zhumayev said. Today, August 5, the team has scheduled an ascent to the fourth camp to bring some equipment there and set the route. After fulfilling the task they will go back to the height of 7100 meters and spend the second night there. The goal of the fourth ascent the team is making now is to set the summit camp at the height of 8000 meters. The international expedition to K2 includes Maksut Zhumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov from Kazakhstan, Gerlinda Kaltenbrunner from Austria, Ralf Dujmovits from Germany, Darek Zaluski from Poland and Tommy Heinrich from Argentina. Chogori is located in the Karakorum mountain system in Kashmir province at the territory of Pakistan. Its height is 8,611 meters.
