Motorcycle racer Jorge Lorenzo has visited Almaty. In his interview to Vesti.kz, the two times world champion said that Almaty had good chances to host MotoGP.
“I have an information that the Grand Prix might take place in Almaty. The dates are not yet known. But why not? First steps towards hosting such events have been made,” Lorenzo said. He added that he liked the nature in Almaty a lot.
After 9 races this season, Lorenzo took the third place during the German Grand Prix. “I’m feeling a little tired, but content nonetheless. The championships were not very successful, there were many falls, but overall it is not that bad,” Lorenzo said.
Despite being in motorcycle racing since he was 15, Lorenzo said that he didn't want his children to follow in his footsteps. “Motorcycling is a very dangerous sport and I will be worrying about them all the time,” the racer said.
MotoGP is the world’s oldest motorsports championship that celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. The 2013 MotoGP gathered over 2.4 million spectators around the circuits.
