Tengrinews.kz – An earthquake in Kyrgyzstan was recorded by Kazakhstani seismologists.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the seismic network of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research registered the earthquake on March 31 at 12:25 p.m. Astana time.
"The epicenter of the earthquake is located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, 178 kilometers southwest of Almaty," the report states.
No tremors were felt on the territory of Kazakhstan.
According to the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, the epicenter of the magnitude 4.0 earthquake was located 52 kilometers southeast of Bishkek.
In the populated areas of Kyrgyzstan, the intensity of the earthquake was as follows:
- Karagay-Bulak village – 3.5 points;
- Bishkek – 2.5 points.
Reminder: In the early hours of March 28, an earthquake was recorded in several districts of the Zhambyl region. The highest intensity – 5 points – was registered in the village of Merke in the Merke district. In the village of Kulan, T. Ryskulov district, the tremors reached 4 points, and in the cities of Taraz, Shu, Kordai, and Moyinkum districts – 2 points.
Another earthquake was registered in the afternoon of March 28. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, tremors with a magnitude of 5.0 were recorded at 3:56 p.m. Astana time, 20 kilometers southwest of the village of Merke in the Zhambyl region.
