Festival of The Beatles songs will be held on Astana square (at the crossing of Tole-bi and Ablai-khan streets) in Almaty on August 30, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of Tabigat ecological union Mels Yeleussizov sa saying on August 24 at the press-conference timed to the project called Restoration of Medeu and Shymbulak green massives. The project is devoted to support this initiative. This will be the second festival dedicated to the Liverpool band in Almaty. On the Constitution Day last year Astana Square welcomed The Beatles fans who gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band and 70th anniversary of one of its singer John Lennon. That day the event was attended by such singers as Yerlan Kokeyev and Fridays band, showman Serik Akishev and designer Kuralai Nurkadilova. Ambassador of Great Britain to Kazakhstan David Moran personally played one of The Beatles’ songs on the piano. The total of 30 songs of the famous band were played that night that finished by a colorful fireworks with Let It Be on the background. Organizers are not yet announcing participants of the festival this year. But they say that the concert will be held at a good level for sure. Besides of its entertainment goal, this event will draw attention to the ecological situation in Medeu gorge. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Paul McCartney said he could give a concert in Kazakhstan on one condition: as many Internet-users as possible should vote for his concert on a special website.
