Semey is getting a spherical museum

A spherical museum will be constructed in Semey, Tengrinews.kz reports. The Museum of Peace will be made in the shape of a huge ball. The project was presented on July 14 at Polkovnychy Island, where the museum is going to be located. According to architects, the glass sphere, symbolizing the planet, will be erected on marble hands. The design is dedicated to closure Semipalatinsk nuclear testing site. The decree was issued by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on August 29, 1991. "The idea of the project is to call people to peace and friendship in order to save our delicate planet," architect Kaldybek Kokilanov said. The height of the construction will make 34 meters and the diameter of the glass sphere will make 24 meters. The project is estimated at one billion tenge ($6.5 million). There will be a picture gallery, cinema, show rooms and conference hall inside the building. The facility will also feature a new concert stage, kumyskhana (kumys is horse milk), ethnic village, fountain, summerhouses and a parking lot. концертную площадку, кумысхану, этно-деревню, фонтан, беседки и автомобильную парковку.
