Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev took part in the cutting of the 600kg Astana birthday cake baked specially for the Kazakhstan capital's anniversary, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President's official website. “Astana is marking its 15th birthday. This city is almost of the same age as you are, it will grow and bloom together with you. And when you grow up you will continue the development and building up of our capital as it becomes more and more beautiful. There are excellent education facilities, recreation and entertainment places in Astana and there is a green belt around Astana. All these are made for your future,” Nazarbayev said addressing young participants of the ceremony. According to the official website of the President, children prepared a concert dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Astana. Winners of national and international contests, dancing troupes from Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan also performed at the concert. Prize holders of school Olympiads and sports championships, children from orphanages, straight-A students, talented and gifted children from all over Kazakhstan also participated in the festive ceremony at Khan Shatyr mall. The square birthday cake was 16 square meters in size and weighted 600kg. It was decorated with models of prominent buildings and sights of Astana including a 1.2-meter-tall Baiterek monument in the center.
