With the temperature going up and snow melting, Almaty is getting ready for the 3rd Almaty Marathon. Excuses like “I have never ran a marathon” or “I am too busy” will not work this time. The organizers of the Marathon are opening free public trainings for everyone who wants to take part, Tengrinews reports. Starting February 22, trainings will be taking place in a park on Kabanbai Batyr St. and Nauryzbay Batyr St crossing at 11 am every Saturday. Professional trainers will teach everyone who is interested about breathing, proper allocation of strength, choosing right clothing and give other helpful tips. The Almaty Marathon is not just a great event that promotes healthy lifestyle and inspires people to start jogging and exercising. It is an event where runners can share some goodness with those in need. This year, the organizers of the Marathons will donate money to Children Oncology and Surgery Research Institute and support children who require an immediate medical help. There will be four distances at the marathon: 3 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km. This year’s novelty is a Marathon relay Ekiden. Teams from different companies can take part in the relay and show their corporate spirit. The first Marathon took place in 2012 and was supported by the City Hall, the Field and Track Federation and the World Class fitness center. The Astana Group and Khalyk Bank sponsor the Marathon. The Almaty Marathon will take place on April 20, 2014. There is not much time left, so put your trainers on and join Almaty runners on Saturday to share goodness and run for someone's life. "It takes spirit to be the first" the Marathon slogan says. By Gyuzel Kamalova
