The 2nd International Circus Festival will be held in Almaty for the City Day, Tengrinews.kz reports. Preparation of the festival started six months before the event. The organizing committee selected 10 artists and troupes from 70 candidates who submitted applications. Laureate of the Paris Festival air gymnast Natalya Egorova from France; laureates of Monte Carlo Festival circus family of acrobats Pellegrini Brothers from Italy; famous American clown Barry Lubin of Big Apple Circus; Chinese troupe Yang Chu; hula hoop artist Alesya Gulevich from Germany; the Makarovs from Zapashny Brothers’ circus; circus Khadgaa artist from Mongolia; corde pareille artist Maxim Khelmut from Russia; gold winner of Las Vegas Festival Pavel Evshukevich from Russia; and diablo artist Dairo Ancelot from France will perform at the circus arena in Almaty. "It will be very exciting and colorful. I would like Almaty audience to see the famous artists’ human abilities. There will be no shows with animals this year," Kazakhstan director of the festival Murat Mutuganov said. According to him, this festival is going to be greater and more eventful than the previous one. Besides, some changes were made in the horse statuette that is the main prize of the Almaty International Circus Festival. Mutuganov also said that it was a great honor for Kazakhstan to invite famous circus artists, especially Pellegrini Brothers and Barry Lubin to Almaty. Barry Lubin said he's never saw any performances of Kazakhstan circus artists, including clowns. He believes that the circus is an integral part of Kazakhstan culture as well as the other CIS countries. The famous clown said that visiting Almaty may inspire him to create new shows. The festival will take place at the Almaty National Circus (#50 Abay Street) on September 14-22. The ticket cost ranges from 1,000 - 5,000 tenge ($6.5 - 32). By Vladimir Prokopenko
