$1.8 million was spent on the Nauryz celebration in Astana, Tengrinews reports citing the Head of the Culture Management of Astana Bolat Mazhagulov. “$960 thousand was spent on Nauryz decorations and $823 thousand was spent on the celebration itself,” Mazhagulov specified. Around 300 events were part of the celebration. Astana invited artists and artisans from seven regions of the country: Almaty, Pavlodar, Aktobe, Atyrau, Zhambyl, North Kazakhstan and Akmola Oblasts. 40 yurts (nomad tent-like house), 5 large tens and three stages for performances were set. A festival of Turkic cuisine took place during the celebration. 50 thousand baursaks (fried doughnuts) were cooked for the Nauryz. The celebration of the spring holiday Nauryz ended with a grand fireworks.
