Tengrinews.kz — The President of Kazakhstan delivered a speech at the awards ceremony for the winners of the Alem.ai battle and AI Governance Cup, citing Akorda’s press service.
The President emphasized that total digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence are currently among the key factors in the comprehensive modernization of the country.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that the world is changing at an unprecedented speed. In his opinion, amid global turbulence, it is critically important to strengthen the country's competitiveness to ensure its growth and prosperity, so as not to be left behind in progress.
"We have taken a number of decisive steps in this direction. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has been established. A legislative framework for the implementation of new technologies has been developed, and the Digital Code has been adopted. The Law on Artificial Intelligence has come into effect. In the near future, the Digital Qazaqstan strategy will be approved, which will determine the country’s digital development trajectory. As you know, this year has been declared the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan. Therefore, a lot of work lies ahead. We need to unite and work selflessly to achieve the goals set," said the Head of State.
The President pointed out that the rapid development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence requires constant updating of approaches.
"An important area remains the development of computing infrastructure. The launch of the supercomputing cluster has been a significant step in strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty. Now the creation of the 'Data Center Valley' in Kazakhstan is on the agenda. The implementation of this large-scale project will attract new investments and strengthen our position as a regional digital hub. Total digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence are now one of the key factors in the comprehensive modernization of our country, from the public administration system to the creative industries," he noted.
The Head of State also reminded that the "Games of the Future" will take place in Astana this summer.
"The competitions at the intersection of traditional disciplines and eSports will involve about a thousand athletes from 50 countries around the world. This new sports format will allow for the more active integration of advanced technologies into daily life and, more importantly, will contribute to the popularization of sports among the youth," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.
