Tengrinews.kz - China plans to actively develop humanoid robots, neural interface technologies, and artificial intelligence to entrust them with caring for the elderly. These innovations will become part of reforms aimed at changing the system of support for the older generation, according to Xinhuanet.
These initiatives are part of a large-scale reform plan approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council on December 30, 2024.
Caring robots and smart homes
Humanoid robots in healthcare and household services can become key assistants for the older generation. At the same time, China will actively introduce smart home systems that will help prevent risks to the safety of the elderly and ensure their comfortable living.
Digitalization of care
One of the goals of the reforms is to create a unified national information platform that will help connect the needs of the elderly with the supply of services. This will effectively address care issues and ensure access to the necessary resources.
Demographic challenge
By the end of 2023, the number of elderly people aged 65 and over in China reached 216.76 million people or 15.4% of the total population. At the same time, life expectancy increased to 78.6 years. The answer to these challenges will be a care system, including humanoid robots, capable of meeting the needs of an aging society.
Affordable and convenient care
The reforms provide for the development of inclusive care services for the elderly. The main emphasis is on the availability and sustainability of solutions - from long-term care to housing modernization. Particular attention will be paid to the installation of elevators in old buildings and, in general, the adaptation of housing for the convenience of elderly people.
