Representative of Kazakhstan in UNESCO Suleimenov against construction of nuclear station in Kazakhstan

Permanent representative of Kazakhstan in UNESCO Olzhas Suleimenov has expressed hope that Kazakhstan will not build a nuclear power station, Tengrinews.kz reports from Nazarbayev University, where the first Nazarbayev Readings are held. “Kazakhstan's uranium reserves are among the largest in the world. It could make this potential a foundation of its energy sector's future. And like no other county Kazakhstan is award of the trickiness of this tempting offer and that is why there is no nuclear stations at the territory of Kazakhstan and I hope there will be none constructed,” Suleimenov said in his report called Nuclear-free world as a global civilization project of Nursultan Nazarbayev. Earlier Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies declared that Kazakhstan will not give up nuclear energy, while chairman of Samruk-Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev noted that Kazakhstan needed to quickly make up its mind about construction of a nuclear power station .
