Tengrinews.kz - The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, announced that gifts have been introduced in the messenger.
"The holiday season (which includes my birthday) is just around the corner, and today we are launching Gifts!" he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Durov noted that gifts are a great way to congratulate loved ones on important occasions.
"Gift recipients can choose to display them on their profiles or sell them for Stars," he explained.
According to him, some gifts are available in limited quantities.
"Later this year we’ll introduce the ability to convert these limited-edition gifts into TON-based NFTs. Users will then be able to auction and trade these tokenized gifts outside Telegram, with ownership recorded on the blockchain," he added.
Earlier, Pavel Durov, announced that the "People Nearby" feature will no longer be available in the app. According to him, less than 0.1% of users used this feature, which allowed finding nearby users and groups. Issues with bots and scammers were the main reasons for its removal.
