Global blue-chip giant Microsoft, Samsung and HP are planning to establish high technology research centers in cooperation with Nazarbayev University in Astana, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Vice-Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan Yerbol Orynbayev. "It is planned to create a high-tech science park on the base of Nazarbayev University in the near future," he said at the seminar called Innovative Economy in Kazakhstan: Technology Commercialization Models in Astana. "The park envisages creation of a belt of corporate research centers, institutes and large high tech companies that will closely cooperate with scientific centers and schools of Nazarbayev University. Around 10 memorandums with giant transnational companies such as Microsoft, Samsung and Hewlett-Packard have already been signed. These companies are planning to open their research centers in the science park in cooperation with Nazarbayev University," the Vice-Prime-Minister said. According to Orynbayev, the university is currently working on about 45 scientific projects in renewable power generation, environment, computer technologies, biochemistry, robotics and physics.
