4G technology will be in use in Kazakhstan already this year. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Communication of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev at Connect Kazakhstan-2012 Forum in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We have had meetings with the sponsors and highly regarded speakers and agreed that there is a need for the new technology. The launch of 4G technology in a pilot project will be made in Almaty and Astana this year. Next year 4G will be fully in use in Almaty, Astana and other cities,” the minister informed. According to his words, the use of Internet in Kazakhstan has increased and penetration has reached 50% mainly due to introduction of mobile technologies like 3G. “And here I would like to stress that it is good, but we need to move forward,” Zhumagaliyev concluded. Last year Zhumagaliyev named the frequencies that will be provided for 4G connection. The ministry has set aside 2500-2700, 2300-2400 and 700-800 MHz frequency ranges for development of 4G, Zhumagaliyev wrote in his Twitter.
