Kazakhstan is planning to launch a scientific spacecraft in 2020, Tengrinews reports referring to the official presidential website Akorda. This will serve to fulfill one of the goals set forth in the Kazakhstan 2020 strategic plan. It is expected that by 2020 Kazakhstan's demand for high-precision satellite navigation service will be 80 percent met and 60 percent of the data transmitted to Kazakhstan consumers from space will be transmitted by Kazakhstan's remote sensing satellites. KazSat-3 communication satellite will be launched by 2015, as well as medium and high resolution remote sensing satellites. By this time, the country's needs for fixed satellite services will be fully met. It is expected, that by 2015 an assembly and testing complex for spacecraft with a dedicated design bureau for space equipment and test production will be built in Astana.
