Tengrinews.kz - Zhaslan Madiyev, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, commented on the possibility of creating a national social network in Kazakhstan.

According to him, significant resources are needed for such a social network to emerge in Kazakhstan.

"There are about 200 countries in the world, and social networks can be counted on one hand. Not every country is eager to create its own social network or messenger. Maintaining such technology requires colossal resources to develop competitiveness and ensure technological and informational security. Who will use it if the platform itself isn't secure?" Madiyev stated in the corridors of the Mazhilis.

He also mentioned that there have been previous attempts to create a social network in Kazakhstan.

"It’s an expensive endeavor. There have been several attempts to establish our own social networks in the country that have not yet succeeded. I believe it should be a private initiative willing to support and invest substantial resources in development and security," the minister noted.

Previously, the Chairman of the Information Security Committee stated that TikTok will not be blocked in Kazakhstan as long as it complies with the country's regulations.
