Researchers from the engineering laboratory of Eurasian National University in Astana have invented an effective, cheap and simple water filter, Khabar TV channel reports. Young scientists came up with an idea of making filter for a material irradiated with nanoparticles. “This is the first filter in Kazakhstan with filtration through a nanocomposites-modified polymer film. Production of such filters does not require big investments and they are very easy to use,” the laboratory’s employee Daryn Borgekov said. “We are now receiving big orders from the Defense Ministry. Our militarymen will be able to drink river water in any region by cleaning it with our filter.” According to Khabar, the polymer film used in the filter is able to 100% clean muddy lake water. Head of laboratory Maksim Zdorovets said that the filter was equal in quality to European and American ones and its production cost was only 4 thousand tenge ($27).
