Kazakhstan students will take part in the 11th ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2012 that will be held in Hong Kong on August 19. The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) is an Asian Oceanian College Robot competition founded in 2002 by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Express-K.

Shyngys Sakypkerey, Andrey Pak and Galymzhan Mussagaliyev, students of Almaty International IT-University have made a 50-kilogram-heavy robot that can accomplish different tasks. The future engineers have designed and assembled the robot at the University’s testing laboratory. The guys have met the main requirements of the contest and have put together their automatic manually operated robot and collector unit in a record short time. The students are satisfied with results of their tests.

“The organizers have suggested quite sophisticated tasks this year. Any delay can lead to a defeat. We hope that we would perform well at the contest and promote Kazakhstan at the global stage,” Andrey Pak, one of Kazakhstan contest participants said.
