Video surveillance cameras to be installed in Almaty mosques

Video surveillance cameras will be installed in all Almaty mosques for security reasons, Tengrinews.kz reports from the meeting of Almaty Akim Akhmetzhan Yessimov with the citizens where he reported on results of the year 2011. “We pay lots of attention to countering terrorism and extremism. Video surveillance cameras will be installed in several mosques. This initiative belongs to Akim (Governor) of Medeu region of Almaty city. In cooperation with businessmen, he will install the cameras in public areas. We also call businessmen to help us. The total of 2,000 cameras will be installed in the city in 2012 for security reasons,” Yessimov said. Kazakhstan trains will also be equipped with video surveillance cameras. Installation of cameras in train wagons is required mainly for security of passengers. Besides, this would improve efficiency of transport police, head of public security department of the Interior Department of Transport Amirzhan Aksholakov said.
