What Kazakhstan and Mongolia will work on – Tokayev

The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia made a joint statement following their talks.
Tokayev expressed sincere gratitude to Khurelsukh for the invitation to visit Ulaanbaatar and highlighted the significance of their meetings.
"Mongolia is an important neighbor in the region, with long-standing friendly relations and shared history. Kazakh-Mongolian relations have evolved into a strategic partnership. We signed a Declaration on strengthening friendship and cooperation," emphasized Tokayev.
He also noted that agreements were reached to deepen trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
"The talks were successful. We agreed to strengthen economic ties. Last year, trade turnover reached $150 million, with plans to increase it to $500 million by expanding the range of goods and removing integration barriers. Both governments have been tasked with implementing the necessary measures. Additionally, a roadmap was signed to boost trade and economic cooperation," the Head of State noted.
He added that the delegations discussed joint opportunities in agriculture, industry, transport, logistics, and energy. Tokayev mentioned Kazakhstan’s capabilities in producing vaccines for agricultural animal diseases.
"We agreed to establish vaccine production in Mongolia and explored opportunities for collaboration in technology and mineral resource development. Kazakhstani businessmen is interested in Mongolia’s mining industry. Investments were discussed, and I shared Kazakhstan’s achievements in e-government, cybersecurity, and space exploration. We also addressed transport and logistics, with improved connectivity between our countries to enhance the competitiveness of international corridors and increase cargo flow across our territories. Special attention was given to the Trans-Caspian route and the North-South corridor," the President stated.
As noted further, at the first meeting of the Business Council held the previous day in Ulaanbaatar, entrepreneurs signed major commercial agreements and several other documents.
Both governments are tasked with creating favorable conditions for joint ventures. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also encouraged to effectively use the potential of interregional connections.
"Astana and Ulaanbaatar are sister cities. Such ties should be established between other regions as well. The Kazakh diaspora in Mongolia is a golden bridge of our strong friendship. I thank the Mongolian leadership and people for their attention to our diaspora," the Head of State noted.
Special attention during the talks was given to cooperation in science, education, and culture, with discussions on new initiatives aimed at strengthening youth contacts.
The President of Kazakhstan also highlighted that Kazakhstan and Mongolia closely cooperate on international and regional levels, sharing similar positions on many key issues.
"We will continue coordinating efforts within global and regional frameworks, focusing on strengthening cooperation in Asia. It is important to provide mutual support and conduct consultations within the UN and other organizations. Kazakhstan also supports Mongolia’s intention to establish a Free Trade Agreement with the EAEU," stated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The President of Mongolia noted that Mongols and Kazakhs are brotherly peoples, historically linked by strong bonds of shared history, culture, and spiritual heritage.

"During your visit, we made the decision to expand our friendly relations, elevating cooperation between Mongolia and Kazakhstan to the level of a strategic partnership. Kazakhstan has become Mongolia's first strategic partner in Central Asia, marking a new era in our relations. The talks were successful, and we outlined the prospects and priorities for our collaboration," remarked Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.

Note that on October 29, an official ceremony was held to welcome Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who arrived in Mongolia on a state visit.
