By 4 p.m. Astana time 66.9 percent of Kazakhstan voters had cast their ballots, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the Central Election Commission. “As of 4 p.m. on January 15 6.223.525 people in Kazakhstan cast their ballots. This is 66.9 percent of the overall number of voters in Kazakhstan,” member of the Central Election Commission Tatyana Okhlopkova told announced at 6 p.m. Here is a layout of voter turnout by area: 30.5 percent in Astana, 21.9 percent in Almaty, 74.6 percent in Akmola oblast, 63.7 percent in Aktobe oblast, 84.5 percent in Almaty oblast, 80.3 percent in Atyrau oblast, 71.5 percent in East Kazakhstan oblast, 70.8 percent in Zhambyl oblast, 67.7 percent in West Kazakhstan oblast, 65.4 percent in Karaganda oblast, 84.2 percent in Kostanay oblast, 79.6 percent in Kyzylorda oblast, 60.4 percent in Mangistau oblast, 67.8 percent in Pavlodar oblast, 78.3 percent in North Kazakhstan oblast, 75.7 percent in South Kazakhstan oblast. “I am calling the voter of the Republic of Kazakhstan who are still doubting whether to go to their polling stations or not. We are calling you to go to your voting station and vote. Only two hours remains, Okhlopkova said. According to the Central Election Commission voting in the Majilis (lower chamber of the Parliament) and Maslikhats (local representative authorities) elections is taking place at 9764 polling stations through the country.
