Askar Beissenbayev has been elected Vice Speaker of the Kazakhstan Senate, Tengrinews.kz reports. He was elected during the first plenary session of the Kazakhstan Senate in the new season. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Beissenbayev Senator in August 2013. He used to head the Representation of the President to Parliament since 2008 and used to serve as Majilis deputy (Lower Chamber) for several terms. Chairman of the Senate Committee for Natural Management and Development of Rural Territories was also selected during the plenary session. Senator Sergei Kulagin, who used to be on the Committee for International Relations, Defense and Security, was elected to the post. By Renat Tashkinbayev
