The United States have presented cars to Kazakhstan police, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We have gathered today to transfer the vehicles for countering drug business from the U.S. Embassy to the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan. As you know, the government has been continuously taking steps to enhance countering of drug trafficking over the past few years,” Interior Minister Kalmekhanbet Kassymov said. The Ministry received a gift of 11 Skoda Octavia cars for police officers and 15 GAZels for transportation of sniffer dogs. “We have recently registered positive results of our efforts. Drug dependency has lowered by 12 percent overall and by 20 percent among minors, plus there has been a good number of drugs seizures. And of course we need modern vehicles to progress further. We are buying them at the expense of the government, as well as at the cost of donating countries,” the Interior Minister added. By Shynar Ospanov
