President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu for his active participation in the Regional Environmental Summit, emphasizing that this platform is aimed at finding joint solutions to common environmental problems of Central Asia and neighboring regions.
During the meeting, the interlocutors expressed interest in developing cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, climate resilience, rational use of water resources, and expanding economic connectivity.
The Head of State confirmed that Kazakhstan is committed to strengthening cooperation in all three dimensions of the OSCE. It was noted that the partnership is based on the principles enshrined in the Astana Declaration of the 2010 OSCE Summit.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the priority of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the national agenda.
According to him, the country is implementing a large-scale program of political and institutional modernization aimed at building a Just Kazakhstan.
It was noted that the referendum and the adoption of the updated Constitution marked an important stage in the transformation of the country’s political system. The reforms being implemented are aimed at strengthening the rule of law, increasing the accountability of state institutions, and forming a sustainable model of public administration.
In turn, Feridun Sinirlioglu thanked the President for the invitation to participate in the Regional Environmental Summit and highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s leadership in promoting the climate and environmental agenda in Central Asia and beyond. In addition, the Secretary General recalled Kazakhstan’s key role in the organization.
The participants of the meeting also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
