Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed establishing a regional branch of the United Nations University in Almaty.
Speaking at a lecture at the United Nations University in Tokyo, the Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan’s international standing is directly based on the progress achieved within the country.
According to Tokayev, it is responsible domestic policy that forms the foundation of effective diplomacy.
“I attach particular importance to the development of education and international academic cooperation, especially in areas that can help accelerate global transformations. These priorities fully align with the mission of the United Nations University. This year, a UN Regional Center for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan was opened in Kazakhstan. Building on this foundation, Kazakhstan is ready to establish a regional branch of the United Nations University in Almaty,” Tokayev said.
In conclusion, the President expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in further strengthening institutional partnership between the United Nations University and leading Kazakh universities through joint research, academic exchanges and graduate training programs.
