Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for systemic improvements in Kazakhstan’s tourism sector, stressing that development of infrastructure and services should remain a constant priority for local administrations. The Head of State addressed the issue in his annual Address to the Nation.
“Tourism is an important industry where many problems have accumulated. In particular, we must acknowledge the shortage of qualified professionals. The competitiveness of this sector remains low. In July, I instructed that all tourist sites be promptly brought into proper condition. I am personally keeping this issue under control,” Tokayev said.
According to the President, it is equally important to strengthen the potential of less-known but promising destinations alongside popular holiday spots. From now on, comprehensive development of tourism infrastructure will be the permanent responsibility of regional administrations, while the central government will focus on attracting international tourists and shaping tourism policy through legislation.
Tokayev gave special attention to mountain and ski tourism in Almaty and Almaty region.
“The most urgent task here is to create modern infrastructure. If we fully address this, our resorts will become known worldwide and turn into a national brand of Kazakhstan,” he emphasized.
