Religion-related materials to be run by state-owned media will be subject to preliminary approval of the Agency for Religion, Tengrinews reports, citing the Agency Head Marat Azilkhanov as saying. “All the videos and printed pieces are to be coordinated with the Agency from now on (…) it is a matter of ideology. All the information to be conveyed by documentaries, TV programs (…) should be centrally coordinated by the Agency”, he said at an extended sitting of the Agency today. Vice Head of the Agency Galym Shoikin elaborated on the sidelines of the sitting that “such an approval is obligatory for all materials to be run by the media publishing materials funded through the government's public procurement orders”. “State-run media working on religion-related information under public purchase orders should comply with the Government’s policy with regards to ideology”, Mr. Shoikin told the journalists.
