Member of the Mazhilis, the lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, and representative of the parliamentary faction of the People's Communists Zhambyl Akhmetbekov does not rule out the possibility of running at the early presidential election this year, Tengrinews reports.
"It does not depend on me. As a former candidate I have some experience, but we are ready with other candidates as well. We can nominate more than one candidate. Personal ambitions is not the most important here. All the communists will be deciding, the Congress will decide whom to nominate," Akhmetbekov said answering the journalists' questions.
The deputy also reiterated that the People's Communist Party of Kazakhstan supported the initiative of the Assembly of the People to hold early election in 2015 instead of the planned 2016. He said that the party of communists was ready for early election, both presidential and parliamentary.
“Our party has matured in 10 years of political battles," he said.
Akmetbekov is a Kazakh politician, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan, member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan since 2012. He ran for president in 2011 elections, gaining 1.94 % of the votes.
