A sociological survey among Kazakhstanis will be conducted to learn of their electoral activity and political awareness. The survey will be carried out by Institute for Democracy research association, a public union, and will focus on the upcoming presidential election, Tengrinews reports.
"In the pre-election period, several phases of polls will be done to measure the electoral activity, political awareness, electoral preferences and expectations of citizens. The first phase has already started on March 15 and will last until March 25. The second phase of the survey will last from April 1 to 7 - this is the campaigning stage. The third phase will be from April 10 to 18. The results of the survey will be made public," said the Projects Department Director of the Institute for Democracy Yulia Kuchinskaya.
She elaborated that each poll would cover two thousand respondents from all regions of Kazakhstan. On the election day, April 26, 2015, there will be exit polls. Yulia Kuchinskaya said that the results of previous sociological studies suggested that the socio-political situation in Kazakhstan was stable.
On March 15 this year, the CEC finished admitting applications from those wishing to participate in the early presidential elections. 27 applications were received. Six of the applicants have passed the language examination so far - the incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the challenger from the Communist Party of Kazakhstan Turgun Syzdykov and self-nominees Lima Koyshieva, Kanat Turageldiyev, Abelgazi Kusainov and Zharylkap Kalybai.
