Nursultan Nazarbayev has opened the 19th session of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan today, Tengrinews.kz reports. The President took part in the annual meeting of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan held in the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana. The meeting is expected to include awarding of golden medals to members of the Assembly on behalf of the President. During last year’s meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that arranging lots of concerts is not the only purpose of the People’s Assembly. Members of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan called all Kazakhstan citizens to exert all efforts to enhance accord and stability in the country. The Assembly is the President’s consulting-advisory body; it unites representatives of 130 ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan. The Assembly was founded by Kazakhstan President’s decree on March 1, 1995.
