Nazarbayev has suggested New Silk Way project to the foreign investors, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Today I would like to suggest you to begin the New Silk Way project. Kazakhstan has to restore its historical role and become a major business transit hub of the Central Asian region and a bridge between Europe and Asia. As a result of implementation of this mega-project the volume of transit cargo flow via Kazakhstan should to double by 2020 and then further increase to at least 50 million tons. In my view, this requires an integrated network of international-level hubs at key transport corridors of Kazakhstan that would offer trade and logistics, financial and business, innovative-technological and tourism services. Today you have given us a lot of hints on how to do this. We will consider your suggestions, implement the project and move forward,” Nazarbayev said closing the 25th plenary meeting of Kazakhstan President’s Council of Foreign Investors. “A competitive advantage of the suggested New Silk Way project will be based on four pillars: speed, cost efficiency, security and stability,” the President said and instructed the government to discuss the project with the members of the Council of Foreign Investors by the end of the year and develop a package plan of implementation of the project Kazakhstan: The New Silk Way.
