Nazarbayev participated in SCO Summit and had several bilateral meetings
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived with an official visit in Kyrgyzstan on September 12, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to the press-service of the President. The President of Kazakhstan participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and had several bilateral meetings.Besides all the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, the summit was also participated by representatives of the United Nations, CIS, Collective Security Treaty Organization and Customs Union. Afghanistan and Iran leaders were observing the forum. India and Pakistan were represented by their Foreign Ministers. Mongolian president also attended the summit. Discussion of the five-year action plan aimed at enhancing neighborly relations, friendship and cooperation of the SCO countries was on the summit's agenda as well as the situation in Afghanistan after the international coalition forces withdrawal and Iran, Pakistan and India's plans to join the SCO. The leaders also exchanged opinions on the Middle East conflict and Iran's nuclear program. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met the Iranian President Hassan Rowhani to discuss implementation of their agreement reached during Nazarbayev's visit to Iran. They discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in trade, transport, logistics and investments. They also discussed the regional security and international issues."Kazakhstan is ready to continue participating in the settlement of the situation around Iran's nuclear program. Besides, we are interested in development of cooperation in transport and communications, especially in railway transportation. The Caspian Sea is a our mutual asset and it should be a sea of friendship and cooperation for us. We should continue working on defining its legal status," Nazarbayev said, adding that peace and security in the region is in the best interests of all the countries.Rowhani thanked Nazarbayev for his coming to the inauguration and pointed out that Kazakhstan was a friend and very important partner for Iran. “We have a great potential of mutual cooperation. It is very important for us to cooperate both in trade-and-economy and in the culture sector.” Rowhani said.Nazarbayev also had a meeting with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhman during his visit to Kyrgyzstan. The leaders of two countries discussed trade-and-economy, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation; considered collaboration of two two countries in the framework of regional and international organizations; and discussed regional security.Nursultan Nazarbayev met the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev in Ala-Archa residence in Bishkek.Welcoming Nazarbayev, Atambayev said: "You should come to Kyrgyzstan more often. We are glad to have you here. We met two weeks ago. We should do this more often." Then the presidents discussed economic cooperation of the two countries.
